My very first garment in full fashion fabric. Designed and sewn completely by myself. School project: to create a gown suitable for the red carpet. (though I suppose it did turn out somewhat prom-y) Not bad for about a week and half or so of work!

If I had a reason to be on the red carpet...I would wear this. But seeing as I'm a mere high school senior, I'd wear it to my prom too. ;) I love the layering.

Very nice! Interesting design and fabric.

If you don't mind me asking, are you working in the fashion industry now, after graduating in a related program? (Hehe, I'm considering my education options next year, so I'm trying to ask around about things like this :))

Umm...no. (I'm trying to be an entrepreneur, of sorts...)

But if you're thinking of a fashion/costume design education (and really working in the industry), I would suggest you apply to specialized schools of design like Parsons. They have connections with the industry, so it's probably easier to break in to that world. You should check out their websites, as such schools usually need portfolio submissions, etc. I think it's also helpful if it's in a big city with lots of internship/job possibilities like New York or Los Angeles.

Good luck!
